Haunting story of the farm's past.
The farm was originally 500 acres and owned by the first settler in Ellington
Lt. John Ellsworth
Lt. Ellsworth was killed by a tree he was cutting down
and buried on the farm
October 26th 1720.
It is rumored that he and several other ghosts
haunt the land and farm house today.
Most ghostly activities occur in October.
Right around the date of Lt. Ellsworth's
tragic accident.
Act of nature? Act of vengeance?
Foul weather forced us to cancel the haunted hayride
on Saturday October 25th
On the Morning of October 26th 2008
(The anniversary of Lt. Ellsworth's tragic death)
High winds and heavy rains virtually destroyed most of the
haunted hayride props on the farm.
Was this an act of nature?
Or the vengeful act of the long dead overseer of the farm?
Haunted room story
On the night of October 24th
2008
Manny Teixeira was parking cars for the
haunted hayride
He noticed the lights in one of the rooms at
the house in front of the farm
Kept turning off and on.
He also noticed the blinds kept opening as if
someone was peering through them.
This went on for over 20 minutes.
Manny went to the farm house to see who was
playing around with the lights
But when he reached the room that this was happening in,
he found the door was locked like always
and no one was in the room.
He returned to parking the cars,
This activity continued through the night.
The next day Manny ask his Gran Daughter that
lives in the home who was goofing around with the lights in that room last
night.
She told him that the room was and has
been locked and empty for months,
Because everyone was to scared to enter that
room.
And no one there had the combination.
Did The Riders See A Ghost?
On October 26th 2007 around 8:30 PM
(Date sound familiar?)
A couple and their 2 children on our first wagon of the evening
were so terrified the ride had to be stopped.
The wagon was forced to speed back to the front gate.
The terrified family left before the ride even started.
The four people were shaking and crying uncontrollably.
Witnesses say the family just kept sobbing,
didn't you see it? It was horrifying!
didn't you see it?
No one is certain but I believe they had an experience with
Lt. Ellsworth
one of the Ghost of JT farms,
None of the other 30 people on the wagon were affected.
The family left in a state of shock and we have not heard from them since.
Not Again?
The child of a family on our fist wagon of the evening
October 26th 2008
(Not even going to say it)
became hysterical for no apparent reason.
The driver was again forced to return to the front gate before the ride even began.
Witnesses on the wagon claim the child turned pure white and started screaming,
Keep it away! keep it away!
Like last years incident, no one else on the wagon was affected.
Haunting memorial in front of farm
In the front of the farm you can find a monument that reads
This marker replaces an old stone memorial to the first settler in Ellington
On it was engraved the following
Lt. John Ellsworth
First settler in Ellington
Was killed here by the fall of a tree
October 26th 1720
Age 49 years & 19 Days
Lt. John Ellsworth was born on 7 October 1671. He was the son of Sgt. Josiah Ellsworth and Elizabeth Holcombe. John Ellsworth married Esther White, daughter of Lt. Daniel White and Sarah Crow, on 9 December 1696. John Ellsworth died on 26 October 1720 at age 49.

Haunting Rumors
There have been stories of the sounds of breaking wood and a large crash
followed by blood curdling screams of a man in severe pain
coming from the fields near the accident site.
Haunted House Story
When the current owner Joseph Teixeira first purchased the land. He would be working on the house with his friends, whenever they left the basement or attic they would turn out the lights but every time they returned the lights would be on again.
His son JR would hear footsteps behind him while upstairs and one time ran from the home screaming because a radio kept turning itself off and on.
Haunted Radio Story
The Workers on the ride use 2 way radios to communicate.
At times out of nowhere all the radios start emitting strange sounds.
Once this occurs it is always followed by an unexplainable occurrence.
Everyone can hear each other on the radio's but when you go to talk to any one particular person everyone can hear you except the person you are trying to contact, once you speak to someone else that person can hear you again but the new person you are speaking to can not.
This usually happens right around the time that the tree fell on and killed Lt. Ellsworth.
This also happened numerous again this year 2008.
Haunted Truck story
While helping to build the hayride a truck mysteriously turned towards Mark Lonabaugh and ran over his foot . If he had not jumped out of the way He would probably have been killed.
The driver Jimmy OConnell, claimed the truck seemed to have a mind of it's own.
This happened almost exactly where we believe John Ellsworth was killed by the tree.
Haunted Airplane story
A man named Davis died in an airplane crash exactly where the memorial to John Ellsworth Stands.
Many people have claimed to hear strange noises in and around the house, the spot where John Ellsworth died, in the fields and near the memorial marker.
Missing employee story
One of our original tractor drivers returned from his shift one night and ask when we got the scary new prop of a tree falling on a man that was out there that evening. No one had any idea what he was talking about. He said stop messing with me and took a ride into the field. He has never been seen again.
More haunted rumors
Since John's death it is rumored that over 25 people have been born and died in the house in front of the farm.
it is also rumored that most of these deaths were of strange and tragic circumstances, and usually occur on or around
the same day and time that Lt. John Ellsworth was killed by the tree
October 26.
Strange lights have also been reported in the area.
